Crime Scene Technicians
Since 2007, the Saginaw Township Police Department has increased the number of officers trained as crime scene technicians.
These specially trained officers work as complaint cars unless assistance is needed regarding evidence collection. Each shift has at least one officer that has received a minimum of one week in off-site training.
Crime Scene Technicians are utilized in latent print collections, evidence photography, castings of footwear and tire impressions. The techs are also responsible for gathering samples that may be sent for DNA analysis.
Several recent cases, including crimes of criminal sexual contact and a rash of catalytic converter thefts have been solved as a direct result of the crime scene technicians diligent work.
